How It Works
It is simple. Call 1-800-488-CARS (2277). Donors are asked a few questions (year, make, model, does the vehicle have all of its tires?) about the car and its location. Either of our two vendors will set a pick-up time. A written confirmation of pick-up is left with the donor when the car is towed, and donors receive an official receipt in the mail when all paperwork is complete.

Donation Benefits You
By donating your used vehicle, you may be eligible for a tax deduction based on the fair-market value of the vehicle (consult your tax advisor for details). Your car is towed away for FREE from any location-yard, roadside or parking lot.

Help Clean Up the Neighborhood
The Kidney Cars program can help beautify your community because abandoned vehicles are an eyesore and are dangerous to the environment. By donating your vehicle, you are helping the environment because the car and excess fluids are recycled properly.

Feel Good about Helping Others
The National Kidney Foundation of Michigan benefits from each vehicle donated. Nearly 11,000 people are living with kidney failure in Michigan and more than 1,800 people are waiting for a kidney transplant. With programs in education, patient services, research and organ donation awareness, the NKFM brings help and hope to thousands of people in Michigan.

A Local Program
The NKFM has partnered with Detroit-based Charity Motors to handle our car donations in the southeast Michigan area. More than 70 percent of car donation proceeds go to support the NKFM and all money stays in Michigan. Our program is one of five national programs Good Housekeeping magazine rated as respected.
